In a move which would surely tantalize the taste buds of Liverpool faithful, club Legend Steven Gerrard is gearing up to return to Liverpool.

It has also been reported that Gerrard, who left MLS side LA Galaxy this month, would announce his retirement from playing football to working with Liverpool at their training academy.

Gerrard left Liverpool 2 seasons ago in a bid to further his playing career in the USA. Although he had several offers from top European clubs, Gerrard decided that he would never play against Liverpool. Consequently, it made sense for the former English Captain to move to the USA.

However, after spending just two seasons across the Atlantic, Gerrard seems to have grown fed up of living away from his boyhood club.

Initially, when Gerrard was linked with Liverpool, it was reported that he would be looking to resume his playing career with the Reds.

However, with Liverpool sitting atop the Premier League and with no European football, it was highly unlikely that Klopp would give the Liverpool skipper his dream move. Moreover, on the part of Gerrard, many expected that it would be a role in the Liverpool coaching department that could lure the Englishman.

In addition to Liverpool – who are obviously a dream reunion for the former skipper, former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is also urging Gerrard to join him at Celtic Park.

Rodgers, who was appointed as the manager of Celtic in the summer, enjoyed a highly industrious relationship with Gerrard during his managerial stint at Liverpool.

Also, it was under the tutelage of Rodgers that Liverpool went agonizingly close to ending their Premier League drought before an infamous Steven Gerrard slip denied Liverpool the chance.

During that year, Gerrard was the talisman in the Liverpool midfield with Suarez and Sturridge wreaking havoc up front.

Thus, while a move to Celtic looks highly unlikely, it could tempt Gerrard if he wants to prolong his playing career. However, if he is interested in hanging his boots to start a career in management, Liverpool is the place to be for Gerrard.
